Adler hated January. Winter in general, but January specifically. It was too cold. Which meant he was left to rot on the patio for months at a minimum. Why he hated January, in particular, was his rider resolved to bike regularly at the start of every new year. But it was “chilly.” So might as well begin in March. Three months would pass, and his rider would forget and Adler would be lucky to make it outside a dozen times in the warm days and then it would be “chilly” again. While he languished, the bike next door constantly left her patio. Rain, shine, hot, “chilly,” she rode every day. Oh, he envied her. Worse was how she rubbed it in his face, Adler thought. He would go out of his way to ask about her day, where she went, what she saw, and the response was I’m sorry, I’m tired or it’s been a long day. That bikch.

Opel loved it here. Wherever here happened to be at that moment. Right now here was surrounded by trees plump with joyful dancing leaves. You couldn’t see the ground. Only the sky with clouds flouncing along. She even appreciated the mellow yellow flourish on the fashionable raw concrete walls. And there was an umbrella. Which is always pleasant. A closed umbrella indicated a shining sun and opened only meant you could enjoy the rain. Opel did love a good cruise outside though, but her rider did not seem to be in the mood. In fact, he seemed to have been laying on the living room floor motionless for weeks now. It was quite alright as far as Opel was concerned. The patio was delightful.
