Visions

I once closed my eyes and saw a man drown. Saw him sink into the cobalt, hand stretched to the refracting sky. Bubbles, thrashing, stillness.
Half an hour later, I met a man who drowned. “He was dead for seven minutes,” said his gran. The man began to melt when told a stranger witnessed this childhood scar.
Coincidence people call it. And that is fine. However, in that moment this man felt seen in the universe. Seen by God. His life a story recorded and with significance.
So we stood there, the one who saw and the one who was seen, and were shaken.
