REPORT: Commenced TRIAL 18 at 2300 under the NEW MOON. Subject was sedated and prepared as INSTRUCTED, identical to previous trials. Subject was directed to only eat LIVING HERBS and avoid SUNLIGHT for the fortnight previous. Prior to sedation, the subject ingested a piece of CORTICAL. Subject was then placed in the BASIN. Once unconscious, the BASIN was filled with ICHOR and heated to 38.7°C. ICHOR was then drawn from the BASIN and used by personnel to inscribe the required SHAPES on the floor around the subject. Simultaneously, the mainframe computed the necessary EQUATIONS and vocalized the results. Personnel were then directed to move away from the BASIN and leave the ritual chamber. At 0000, the subject awoke and proceeded to scream for several minutes. Brain scans indicate high levels of fear, consistent with previous trials. Remaining ICHOR in the BASIN was absorbed by the subject causing their abdomen to expand. The subject BLOOMED at 0006. PETALS emerged healthy and robust. STAMEN distributed pollen vigorously. Unfortunately, a GYNOECIUM did not develop fully and the FRUIT was not produced. Personnel were directed back to the chamber for clean up. Any recovered ICHOR was recycled for subsequent trials. All other materials were disposed of. While this trial did not succeed, it did exhibit a marked improvement over previous trials. It is recommended that ICHOR temperatures again be incrementally increased and the drawing of SHAPES be rigorously drilled for absolute precision. Additional processing power in the mainframe would be welcome as well. Finally, consider future subjects with greater body mass as the additional SOIL may accommodate a larger BUD capable of producing the FRUIT.
