12.2020 The End
I am out of the office. I am not taking calls. I am not checking email. Tough.
Honest Advent
I am not one for devotional books. But Adrian sent this to me and she usually has good taste, so I read it.
What I appreciate about this book is it does not endeavor to explain scripture and prescribe how you should think about it. Instead, Scott Erickson invites the reader into his meditations. Each chapter drifts from scripture, rumination on life, emotions, speculation on the mental state of characters in the bible... no answers, just thoughts. Holding these well-worn stories up to the light and examining them from a few new angles. Searching for hope and ending in prayer.
Worth the time.
While You Were Sleeping (1995)
Like most families, ours has a list of Christmas movies we have to watch every December. If I had my way, the list would begin and end with The Muppet Christmas Carol. (Additionally, Christmas music would only be allowed on the 24th and 25th).
But I make an exception for While You Were Sleeping. It’s an excellent Christmas movie in its own right, and might also be the greatest romcom of all time?!?
This is not a discussion. It’s canon now.
The Mandalorian
Mando is the man... do.
It’s fun, I love the characters, and how it’s produced is fricken cool. What else is there to say.
Spyro: Reignited Trilogy
Mascot platformers were my jam on PS1 and PS2. And I gotta say this remaster feels both new and familiar. It’s been fun playing through Spyro the Dragon again with my siblings, passing the controller back and forth.
