Concept Shoot 07.09.2023
My friend Caroline, a professional model and musician, asked me, a hobbyist who predominantly photographs the corners of buildings, to collaborate on a concept shoot again. I agreed because collabs are fun. But I must stress, I have no idea of what to do for this type of project.
We expected a sunny day and planned a bright, summery shoot. It turned out overcast and rainy. We barreled ahead regardless with the outfits and props for the original concept.
Caroline came up with compelling poses and movements with little input from me. I experimented with the strobe and dragging the shutter. And a narrative began to crystalize in my subconscious.
I delayed posting the shoot because I felt it needed a written component. Prose, poetry… I made several attempts. All were lacking. Over a year later and the well is still dry.
The shoot deserves to be shared, curated for the visual narrative I sensed. Brief excerpts of text attempt to illustrate the threads I’ve been grasping at.
